Privacy policy
HouseByMonth is built to need as little information about you as possible. This policy explains what is collected, why, and the choices you have.
The maintenance calendar
The ZIP code and home details you enter are processed in your own browser. They are not sent to us and we don't store them. Your browser downloads a small file of ZIP codes and climate zones and does the calculation locally.
When you build a calendar, your choices are added to the page address (for example, ?zip=60614) so you can bookmark or share it. That address stays in your browser history like any other page you visit. The calendar file you download (.ics) is created in your browser and saved only to your device.
We don't require accounts and don't ask for your name, email address or street address.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details. We don't combine this data with any other information.
The fonts on this site are served from our own server, so loading a page doesn't send your data to a font provider.
Advertising
HouseByMonth may show ads served by Google AdSense to cover the cost of running the site. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Ads are not shown yet. Before they are, visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message, and no advertising cookies will be used without it. You'll be able to change your choice at any time. Today, this site sets no cookies of its own.
If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply and to fix any issue you report. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your address.
Children
This site is meant for adults responsible for a home. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Who is responsible, and on what basis
The data controller is Pau Cozar Navas, Spain ([email protected]). We process personal data on these legal bases:
- Delivering and securing the site (server logs handled by Cloudflare): our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website. Logs are kept only as long as Cloudflare needs them for that purpose.
- Replying to your emails: your request. We keep messages only as long as needed to resolve them, and no longer than one year.
- Advertising cookies, when ads are enabled: your consent where the law requires it, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move personal data held about you, and to object to or restrict its use. Because we don't store data from the calendar, in most cases there is nothing to delete. For any request, email [email protected].
If you're in the EU and think your data has been handled improperly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or the authority in your own country.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
